Every version of our legal documents carries an effective date. This page records what changed in each one, so you can see how the terms you agreed to have moved over time without having to compare two pages line by line.
Changes marked material are ones that reduce what we offer or increase what you have to do. For those we give at least 30 days' notice before they take effect, and if you are on a paid plan you can cancel before that date and we refund the unused part of what you have paid. Everything else — clarifications, corrections, new features — applies from its effective date.
About the July 24, 2026 versions. Those three took effect on the day they were published rather than 30 days later. Compass had no paid subscribers at that point. The 30-day commitment above applies from the next material version onwards.

. Complete rewrite. Replaced the "by using the site you consent" framing with a notice-based one and moved consent to the point of collection. Added a legal-basis table, a named subprocessor table, a retention schedule, an international-transfer section, a cookie table, and a section on how AI prompts and searches are processed — including that we do not use them to train models. Removed descriptions of practices we do not have (SMS, push notifications, affiliate sharing, business partners, public user areas). . Rewrote the description of the service so it covers the free tier, paid plans, one-off reports, and the API rather than only news aggregation. Narrowed the indemnity to matters within your control and added our duty to notify you of a claim. Reframed privacy as notice rather than consent. Added a 30-day advance notice for material changes and the right to cancel before one applies. Added an "as is" warranty disclaimer and a liability cap — the greater of fees paid in the last 12 months or US$100 — both with express carve-outs for rights consumers cannot waive. Added account terms, terms for content you submit, data export after termination, and standard contract clauses (severability, waiver, assignment, force majeure, entire agreement, venue, notices, survival). Added a savings clause preserving EU, EEA, and UK consumers' local-law rights and local courts. Split eligibility: 13+ to browse, 18+ to buy. - June 27, 2026

. Added a section describing exactly what we show you before charging you, and the copy of the terms we email afterwards. Rewrote cancellation to describe the in-account cancellation that now exists: one button and one confirmation. Replaced "reasonable advance notice" of a price change with the specific window we now keep to: at least 7 and no more than 30 days. Added the 14-day withdrawal right for consumers in the EU, EEA, and UK — including that for a one-off report the right runs, with a full refund, until the report is generated — plus the model withdrawal form and our dispute-resolution position. Clarified that VAT is calculated at checkout and shown inclusive to EU, EEA, and UK consumers, that report allowances reset by calendar month, and how plan changes actually work. - June 27, 2026

API Terms & Data License

. First published version. Revised on 24 July 2026 without a new effective date: clarified the attributed client-facing uses the licence permits; reworded the rate-limit and authentication statements to match what the API actually does; replaced an undefined "transient" caching allowance with a defined 24-hour ceiling and a duty to delete cached outputs on termination; stated the derived-data limits; added the 90-day breaking-change notice; and made changes to these API Terms follow the Terms of Service's 30-day-notice-and-refund framework instead of "continued use constitutes acceptance". This revision took effect immediately.
